“Would you trade your so mate for your soul?
Emma Carstairs has finally avenged her parents. She thought she’d be at peace. But she is anything but calm. But Mark has spent the past five years trapped in Faerie; can he ever truly be a shadow hunter again?
And the faerie courts are not silent. The Unseelie King is tired of the Cold Peace, and will no longer concede to the Shadowhunters’ demands. Caught between the demands of faerie and the laws of the clave, Emma, Julian, and Mark must find a way to come together to defend everything they hold dear – before it’s too late. “
Follow Emma and Julian as their love grows only more powerful, despite the risks 💗 . Parabatai can’t be romantically involved , without destroying themselves and everyone they love. The Centurions are Los Angeles and Zara may not be there for the reason that she sates. Times are changing and there are many Shadowhunters that want to see downworlder rights retracted so that they can be controlled.
Emma, Julian, Cristina and Mark travel to the lands of the Unseelie King, where something is amiss. Their angelic powers cease to work and little does she know, Emma is about to see a face that she never expected it possible to see again.
It seems that no one is truly dead …
I really, really, really loved Lord of Shadows, so much so, that I managed to read the whole novella in 3 days! I couldn’t put it down, and when I did it was only a matter of time before I was compelled to pick it up and start reading again. Something that made it extra special for me was the way that Clare continued to reference characters from The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices, with multiple characters returning to the magical world I have fallen in love with. I continued to bond with all the characters, and although I wasn’t a great fan of Kit in Lady Midnight, he is definitely growing on me.
I have to hands give this book 5 stars and I think I enjoyed Lord of Shadows even more than Lady Midnight (What can I say I’m a sucker for the romance between Jules and Emma, just like I was with Jace and Clary 😂 ). I have to recommend this book to anyone that was a huge fan of The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices, or someone who is just looking for something new and exciting to read. I would recommend reading The Mortal Instruments series first, then The Infernal Devices, as this series fits in really well after the two (they introduce you to some of the frequently mentioned characters.
